The DofE is many things to many people, supporting generations to successfully navigate adult life.
Bronze and Silver require 6 months of commitment and Gold, 12 months
- Bronze – aged 14 in school year
- Silver – aged 15 in school year
- Gold – from 16th birthday
Each level has differing criteria for entry and the level of achievement necessary to complete each award. The awards are broken down into 4 areas (5 for gold) which participants must complete successfully to receive their award. These are:-
- Volunteering – Helping others in the local community
- Physical – Sport, dance and fitness
- Skills – Demonstrate ability in almost any hobby, skill or interest
- Expeditions – Training for, and planning of a journey
- Residential Project (Gold Award only) – A purposeful enterprise with young people not previously known to the participant.
The cost of enrolling for Bronze is currently £80. After successful completion of their Bronze, the Squadron pays for ensuing Silver and Gold Awards. The enrolment fee is payable to the Sqn account. Use the button below to pay for DoE Bronze enrolment.
There are nominal extra charges to cover the cost of expeditions.
Through a DofE programme young people have fun, make friends, improve their self-esteem and build confidence. They gain essential skills and attributes for work and life such as resilience, problem-solving, team-working, communication and drive, enhancing CVs and uni and job applications.
